BIRD lovers were shocked by the sight of some surprise visitors to their feeding day in Canons Park - a group of bright green parrots.
The rare ring-necked parakeets, which are the UK's only naturalised parrot species, are part of an estimated flock of thirteen which have been sighted intermittently in the Edgware area for the last two years.

HARLINGEN Joanne Blake didnt know there were wild parrots in the United States.
"I thought you had to go to South America to have parrots," she said.
Minutes later, a red lored parrot fluttered over the city lake here.
"Its thrilling," said Blake, a retired substance abuse therapist from Montana. "Its a tourist attraction for the area."
Late Thursday afternoon, about 50 birders attending the Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival toured Harlingen and San Benito in search of parrots that make up an expanding population.

We're planning another trip to Rancho Los Ebanos, Tamaulipas, Mexico, where birding is awesome! Los Ebanos, a five thousand acre ranch on the Gulf of Mexico, is home to three sympatric Amazon species, Amazona oratrix (Yellow-headed), Amazona autumnalis (Red-lored) and Amazona viridiginalis (Red-headed or Green-cheeked).

Parrots shocked, 1 dead
Fort Lauderdale firefighters responding to a call about a power outage on Wednesday afternoon instead found nine Quaker parrots that appeared to have been suffered from electrical shock after a power line arced and snapped in a neighborhood west of the intersection of Sunrise Boulevard and Federal Highway.
